Why I Created Sums Up.
Games have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Las Vegas with a father who worked in the gaming industry, and decades later, I began a 20-year career in casinos myself. As a blackjack dealer, I saw firsthand what makes a table game engaging for players, practical for dealers, and workable for casino operations.
After thousands of hours dealing blackjack, I started wondering: Could the opening cards create one more moment of excitement?
That question became Sums Up, a game I began developing at my kitchen table with decks of cards, a notebook, and countless hands dealt to imaginary players as I recorded results and tested the mathematics by hand.
A favorable independent mathematical review by Gaming Laboratories International gave me the confidence to take the next step.
